A little bit about us

What is Lovejoy Village Association?

The Lovejoy Village Association (LVA) is a non-profit agency, 501(c) (3), that focuses on serving the East Lovejoy Neighborhood located in the City of Buffalo.

Why was LVA formed?

In recent year increasing attention has been devoted to the entire spectrum of community development. We empower residents to take interest in what happens in the area in which they live, as well as to participate in the decisions that affect them.  The representation of the people is an American tradition that we utilize to support and protect our community.

Citizen participation and leadership in community organizations has long been viewed as a major method for improving the community. Improvements may be found in the quality of the environment, enhanced services, business development, crime prevention and improved economic & social conditions.

Our Mission

The mission of LVA is to improve the quality of life in the Lovejoy District by implementing projects and addressing issues that will maintain and create a safe environment for its residents, support economic opportunities for businesses and residents, enhance the physical image of the district and instill a sense of neighborhood pride and commitment.

Our Goals

  • Increase community engagement among residents, businesses, and organizations within and outside the district.
  • Foster a diverse community with a focus on inclusivity and opportunity.
  • Open a resource center that will offer the district’s residents access to technology, program applications, tenant and landlord services, employment opportunities and various other community resources.
  • Attract investment by establishing business relationships and developing our own nonprofit businesses.
  • Raise funds for community events and projects.
  • Provide assistance to families and individuals impacted by tragedy.
  • Operate the nonprofit as a financially responsible and democratic organization.
